Skills and Techniques Traditional Glass Painting Made Easy Working with Transparent Enamels by Peter McGrain Transparent enamels are a fairly recent innovation. Like the rest of the paints we use, they come in powdered form and are prepared for use by mixing with a liquid, usually water. It’s important to remember that they contain lead, which gives them their clarity, and must be used with caution. Kenneth Leap has long been interested in education related to stained glass. His seven years as education chair for the American Glass Guild (AGG) have helped him realize his goal to develop lesson plans with glass for elementary and high school students, making them available to educators on the AGG website. Scott, a mixed media sculptor who constructs sophisticated bead sculptures incorporating glass, clay, fabric, and found objects. Receiving the Lifetime Membership Award is Wayne Strattman, neon artist and developer of innovative lighting techniques for sculptures. CGS News CGS Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary in 2017 by Pam Reekie Over the past 20 years, there have been many memorable events, including three exhibitions and an international conference in Bristol, England. Events are being planned to occur throughout the year to celebrate what has grown from a small group of enthusiastic glass artists to an organization heading toward 1,000 members.
