These new Colour de Verre bead moulds produce beads which are contemporary, fashionable, practical and easy to make.  The beads can be strung on leather, rubber, silk or metal necklaces to create jewellery ranging from simple and casual to dramatic and elegant.

Because of the way in which the moulds are engineered, the beads almost never require any coldworking, grinding or polishing.

Each firing creates six round beads measuring about 25 mm (1 inch) in diameter.  Each small ring bead cavity requires approximately 3-4 grams of frit.

Colour de Verre recommends that, for best effect, coloured frit should be mixed with clear frit, as even dark, opaque colours become richer in appearance, when mixed with clear frit.

Dichroic beads can be created by lacing a layer of fine, black frit into the mould. A layer of crushed, black-backed dichroic is then arranged on top of the fine, black frit. Finally, a layer of medium clear frit is used to cap the dichroic glass.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT FOR BEST EFFECT, COLOUR DE VERRE SPECIFICALLY RECOMMENDS THE USE  OF HOTLINE PRIMO PRIMER (OR MR-97, WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA).

Give the mould 3-4 thin, even coats of Primo Primer kiln wash, using a soft artist's brush to apply the Primer (Colour de Verre recommends that you do NOT use a haik brush, as this will not pick up the necessary fine detail).  Use a hair dryer to completely dry each coat before applying the next.
